Two Wilderness Park trails have closed today, May 28, for bridge and trail work scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2024.

The Parks and Recreation Department is advising, both the Red and Green “All User” Trails between mile markers 50 and 51 will be closed to retrofit the former railroad bridge over Salt Creek and extend the Rock Island Trail into Wilderness Park.

The work area will be marked with orange construction fence. Park visitors are asked to avoid the bridge and work areas.

This project is funded by a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant and with support from partners including the Great Plains Trail Network, the Lower Platte South Natural Resources District, and with proceeds from the Run for the Bridges event.
