A 14-year-old Lincoln middle school student has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder in connection with a stabbing last weekend that killed a 16-year-old boy at a house in northeast Lincoln.
Stephen “Max” D’Amore was arraigned on Wednesday and is also charged with using a weapon to commit a felony. Lincoln Police say D’Amore is accused of stabbing Xavian Sawyer in the chest and stomach following a fight near 64th and Adams.
Investigators the two had an ongoing argument that boiled over during a gathering at that home. A judge set bond at $750,000. Sawyer was a student at East High School. If convicted, D’Amore could spend 50 years to life in prison.
