One Lincoln woman was killed and another injured in a crash on I-80 near Walnut, Iowa around 4:00 Tuesday afternoon. The Iowa State Patrol says a 2015 Honda Odyssey minivan driven westbound by 45-year-old Emma Gonzalez Maldonado rear-ended a semi that was stopped for a previous crash.
Investigators say the impact caused her van to spin out and hit the trailer of a third vehicle before coming to rest on the shoulder. Gonzalez-Maldonado was pronounced dead at the scene. 18-year-old Emily Esteban was taken to the hospital in Harlan to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
