By Tom Stanton May 22, 2024 | 2:38 PM

Lincoln Police say a 59-year-old man has been cited in connection with a crash that claimed the life of an unborn child.  It happened around 2:30 p.m. on May 10 at 16th and ‘E’ Streets. Investigators say a Kia Optima was southbound on 16th Street when it collided with a Chevy Malibu that was westbound on ‘E’ Street through the intersection.

Medical personnel provided aid to a pregnant female passenger in the Kia.  She was transported to a local hospital where emergency procedures continued, however the infant was pronounced dead shortly after an emergency delivery.

LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says Lionel Brown of Lincoln was cited and released today for misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide of an unborn child while in custody at the Nebraska Department of Corrections Reception and Treatment Center.
