Two drivers ended up in the hospital following a two vehicle crash Sunday night near 48th and ‘J’. LPD Lieutenant Brian Agnew tells KLIN News says both vehicles were speeding northbound on 48th Street around 8:30 p.m.
“One vehicle attempted to pass the other vehicle in the center turn lane and that’s when the vehicles collided,” Agnew says. One of the vehicles ended up on it’s side and another struck a tree. Lt. Agnew says some houses were also damaged in the crash.
Both drivers went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both drivers were arrested or willful reckless driving. One of the drivers, 40 year-old-old Joseph Cogley was also arrested for DUI causing serious bodily injury. The other driver was cited on suspicion of willful reckless driving.
A part of 48th Street was shut down as police investigated the crash.
