Lincoln Airport Hosting Inaugural ‘Plane Pull’ Fundraiser this Saturday

By Chase Porter May 16, 2024 | 4:11 PM

The weight of a light airplane can still be 20 US tons, or 40,000 pounds. You think you could pull that?

The Lincoln Municipal Airport is preparing to host their first ever annual Plane Pull fundraiser for the non-profit Women in Aviation, set for Saturday (May 18th) on the west ramp at LNK.

If you want to participate, you’ll need to gather a team of five people and pull (via rope) as hard as you can over a distance of 30 feet. The fastest team in three separate divisions (women, men and co-ed) will be deemed the inaugural Lincoln plane pulling champions.

“We are incredibly excited to host our first annual Plane Pull event in Lincoln,” said Joy Damian President of Women in Aviation, Cornhusker Chapter. “This event not only serves as a fun and unique way to bring the community together but also highlights the importance of women’s involvement and leadership within the aviation sector.”

In addition to the competition, attendees can enjoy various family-friendly activities, food vendors, and learn more about careers in aviation.

Registration opens at 8 a.m. and all teams must be on site and registered by 9 a.m. You can registration online here.

The Plane Pull begins at 9:30 a.m. following opening remarks.

The event is sponsored by the Lincoln Airport, Duncan Aviation and CommuteAir. Proceeds from the event will be going towards supporting Women in Aviation.
