Pius X High School has named Social Studies teacher Troy Charf as the new head softball coach for the Pius Thunderbolts.

Charf graduated from Pius in ’92 and has taught at the school for 25 years. He’s also coached a club softball team, the Nebraska Quakes, for the past two years.

Previously, he had 17-year career as head coach of baseball at Pius X with a 264-157 record. His baseball teams qualified for state nine times, won three state titles and finished runners-up twice.

“I am both humbled and excited to be the head coach of the Pius X Softball team,” Charf said. “My intention is to continue to build on the spirit and culture established by Coach (Tim) Isaacs that I witnessed in attendance at games last fall. I want our players to become good at small things within the game, putting the team in a position to be successful.”
