Lincoln Police are trying to determine if two robberies ten minutes apart are related. Captain Todd Kocian says around 8:50 Monday night a 38-year-old man was walking near 35th and Randolph when a grey sedan pulled up and three black males 16-22 years of age got out.

“He said one of the males pointed a handgun at him and demanded the backpack he was carrying,” Kocian says. “He turned over his backpack, the suspects got back into the vehicle and were last seen southbound from the area.”

The backpack was later located a few blocks away.  Police were then called to 32nd and ‘J’ Street around 9:00  Kocian says  28-year-old man and a 27- year-old woman were walking in the area when they were approached by a dark grey sedan.  He says two black males, 13-25 years of age got out.

“One of the males pointed a handgun at the victims and demanded their possessions,” Kocian says.  The man handed over his cellphone and the suspects left the area.  The cellphone was tossed during the getaway and it was later recovered.

The investigation into both robberies is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Lincoln Police Department at 402-441-6000 or Crime
Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
