A 19-year-old Lincoln man was arrested Tuesday, May 14, in connection to the robbery of a minor back in March.
On Sunday, March 3, around 12:15 a.m., officers were called to Peter Pan Park and surmised a 15-year-old victim had been robbed of $60.
Investigators identified the suspect as 19-year-old Malikii Barnes of Lincoln, who is also wanted in connection with a separate incident in another jurisdiction.
For precaution, the LPD SWAT team assisted in serving a search warrant and took Barnes into custody without incident at a home in the area of N. 64th Street and Baldwin Avenue just before 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
The area of the arrest was nearby three Lincoln Public Schools — Northeast Highschool, Pershing Elementary, and Mickle Middle School. All three schools issued a “Standard Response of Secure,” colloquially a “lockdown,” in which all students are kept inside and all entrances are locked and monitored by school staff. Teaching and learning continued as normal inside the building. All “Secure” statuses were lifted and activities returned to normal shortly after.
Barnes was taken to Lancaster County Jail, charged with robbery, use of a firearm to commit a felony, terroristic threats, and attempted 1st degree assault.
