A 38-year-old Lincoln woman is accused of drinking and speeding with her terrified 13-year-old daughter in the back seat Saturday night. Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says the girl called 911 around 6:00 p.m. on Highway 77 and Little Salt Road, just south of Ceresco.
When deputies arrived, they found the girl outside the crying and Brittany Borrell behind the wheel. An open bottle of brandy was found in the vehicle. Houchin says the girl told deputies that her mom was driving 95 miles-per-hour down the highway and she was scared.
“It would take a lot for a 13-year-old to call in on her mother,” Houchin says. “She must have been horrified and I feel very bad for her.” Borrell was taken to the hospital and released. She was then booked into jail for DUI and DUI with a passenger under 16. She is also charged with child endangerment and reckless driving.
Borrell was also arrested April 10 for stabbing a man in the stomach during an altercation in north Lincoln.
