Major road improvements are scheduled for South 14th Street between Yankee Hill and Pine Lake roads, and officials with Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) are holding an open house this week to keep residents informed.
The open house will be hosted on Thursday, May 16, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, in the Southwest High School library (7001 S. 14th St.)
Improvements to South 14th will include concrete median, shoulder, and curb repair or replacement, joint and crack sealing, public utility adjustments, pavement markings and inlet top replacements. Additional work with other funding sources includes upgrades to the existing curb ramps to comply with the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
The project will require lane closures and left-turn restrictions. Traffic will be shifted as needed to accommodate work. One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction at all times. Sidewalk closures will be necessary for curb ramp reconstruction.
Construction is expected to begin in summer.
This project is apart of the Lincoln on the Move street improvement campaign, paid for by a voter approved quarter-cent sales tax increase.
