Lincoln Woman Arrested In Husband’s Murder

By Tom Stanton May 3, 2024 | 4:21 PM

Lincoln Police say they have arrested a 41-year-old woman in connection with the August 2023 death of her husband.  On Friday Police arrested Amanda Wright for first-degree murder in the death of 38-year-old Zachary Svoboda.

On August 23, 2023, officers went to a home near N. 50th and Greenwood streets where Svoboda was found dead.  Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says an autopsy determined the cause of death was acute methamphetamine and fentanyl intoxication.

Thomas says the LPD Criminal Investigations and Narcotics Units have identified physical and digital evidence as well as witness statements that all indicated Svoboda’s death was the result of an intentional act.

Based on that evidence, LPD determined that Wright devised and ultimately carried out a plan to kill her husband.  Police say last month a related drug investigation led to the arrest of Wright on several charges and possession of a stolen gun.

She was booked into the Lancaster County Jail about a week ago. She is being held on a $500,000 bond.  LPD investigators have worked closely with the Lancaster County Attorney’s Office to
update them on the progress of the ongoing investigation and the case has now been referred to their office.
