Tornado Watch Issued For Lincoln Until 7:00

By Tom Stanton Apr 26, 2024 | 1:15 PM

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for eastern Nebraska, including Lancaster County until 7:00 tonight.   Meteorologist Clint Aegerter says storms could begin forming near Lincoln this afternoon.

“They could impact the evening commute so before you head home you may want to take a look at radar or the latest weather.”  In addition to tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds are possible.

Another round of severe weather is likely late Saturday afternoon into Saturday night, especially along and south of I-80. Again, all severe hazards are possible, including hail up to three inches in diameter, a few strong tornadoes, and thunderstorm winds up to 70 mph.

Severe weather is again possible Sunday afternoon into evening in parts of southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa.
