Library Workers Honored For Helping Save Man’s Life

Five Lincoln City Library employees were presented with the Mayor’s Award of Excellence for February during Monday’s City Council meeting.  They jumped into action when a Bennett Martin Public Library patron went unconscious this past December

The award was presented to Cindy Krushenisky, Kimberly Jorgensen, Sharon Sayre, Ali Bousquet and Scott Clark.  The team was nominated by LCL Library Coordinator Leeann Sergeant in the category of valor.

Sergeant said in her nomination letter that team members, including security guard Firas Pirali, noticed a patron was unconscious, called 911, and followed instructions to provide chest compressions, which revived the patron.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue arrived a short time later  and transported the person to the hospital.  “These staff care a great deal for their community. Daily, they go above and beyond to help people,” Sergeant wrote.   “With this situation, there was absolutely no hesitation on anyone’s part to jump into action and try to help which ended up saving a man’s life.”

“Library staff routinely go above and beyond to help people,” said Mayor Lierion Gaylor Baird during the presentation. “In this case, their help meant saving the life of one of our community members.”
