By Tom Stanton Apr 16, 2024 | 4:35 PM

Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska is asking the public’s help to fulfill an urgent need for donated furniture to assist those in need.  “Requests for furniture are running nearly double the usual demand,” says Katie Patrick, CSS Executive Director. “Those requests come from more than two dozen human service agencies in Lincoln that are trying to help their clients, plus we have a need for used furniture for our own clients.”

Patrick tells KLIN News they are one of the few agencies in Lincoln that provide used furniture for free to people that are trying to get back.  “We partner with more than 30 different non-profits who are working with families and individuals and the furniture that we deliver to clients is partially coming from referrals from those agencies,” Patrick says.

She says they serve people who are getting out of prison, mothers who have fled domestic violence and families and individuals who are going through drug rehab.  Patrick says the especially need bedroom furniture, including all sizes of beds, nightstands and dressers, living room furniture and kitchen tables and chairs

She says they serve people who are getting out of prison, mothers who have fled domestic violence and families and individuals who are going through drug rehab.  Patrick says they have seen an increase in demand for furniture from people from all backgrounds. including more than 160 refugees this year.  She expects that number to go higher.
