Search Continues For Man Missing From Mental Health Facility

By Tom Stanton Apr 12, 2024 | 12:48 PM

It has been a week since 28-year-old Joshua Martin walked away from a Lincoln mental health facility near 15th and South Street.  Lincoln Police and Martin’s family are asking for the public’s help to bring him home safely.

“If anybody could just take the time to look in a shed, look along tree lines,” says Kary Tronson, Martin’s aunt.  “Check your cameras on Friday Saturday and Sunday.  It might just be the needle in the haystack that we need.”

Joshua suffers from schizophrenia and has severe OCD that is similar to severe autism in social interactions. According to his family he functions at the level of a 5-year-old. He was last seen wearing a red t-shirt and black shorts with a grey stripe. He is 5’11”, 200 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes.

Tronson is from Omaha and his family brought him to Integrated Behavioral Health Services for treatment several months ago.  She says Martin didn’t like being in the facility and believes he may be trying to make his way back home.

The family is holding a search party Sunday at 11 a.m. near 84th Street and Nebraska Parkway.  LPD says the Nebraska State Patrol, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department are assisting in the search.
