Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews found a backyard chicken coop engulfed in flames when they responded to the area of 27th and Dudley just before 5:00 this morning. LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says the flames impacted overhead power lines.
She says the chicken coop was completely destroyed and the fire also damaged a shed that stores some lawn equipment. Damage is estimated at $1,000 and several chickens died in the fire.
She says a heating lamp inside the chicken coop started some nearby materials on fire.
