Lincoln City Libraries (LCL) has announced Ellie Little as the winner of its Library Card Design Contest for Teens.

14-year-old’s design, entitled ‘Everyone Can Read Together,’ was inspired by “the welcoming atmosphere of the library,” and by her love of reading with other people, said Little. Her design was selected out of more than 100 youth-artists across Lincoln and Lancaster County artists ages 12 to 18. This is the second LCL card design contest, following the August 2023 contest for kids up to age 11.

“Our goal is to engage residents to design cards that reflect the unique qualities of our great community,” said Traci Glass, LCL Assistant Director. “This contest is an opportunity for teen artists to showcase their talents and leave a lasting impression on our library system. Young people are real stakeholders in our libraries, and this is a chance for them to express what they love about their library and all it has to offer.”

A panel of judges comprised of LCL Youth and Teen Services librarians selected the top three finalists. The designs were then put to an online public vote.

A card design contest for adult residents is scheduled for summer 2024.
