The Boone County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the death of a 17-year-old employee at a hog unit near Saint Edward, Nebraska, northwest of Columbus.
Monday, April 1st, around 11:30 a.m., Boone County Deputies received a 911 call regarding an unresponsive juvenile on a hog farm property owned by Sarah Pillen, Governor Jim Pillen’s daughter.
An autopsy was requested by the Boone County Attorney. While this is still an ongoing investigation, initial inspections by Boone County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol do not indicate any foul play.
Sarah Pillen provided the following statement to KLIN media partner 1011 News:
“Though his employment with our Team was very brief, he positively impacted those he worked with. The Nebraska State Patrol and Boone County Sheriff’s Office are still investigating what happened and the cause of his death remains unknown. We deeply mourn Zach’s passing and extend our prayers to his loved ones during this very difficult time.”
