Fire North of Raymond Causes $170,000 in Damage

By Chase Porter Mar 28, 2024 | 1:00 PM

A destructive fire caused a significant amount of damage Wednesday afternoon at property north of Raymond.

Lancaster County Sheriffs Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says the fire consumed an outbuilding located near NW 84th and W. Agnew Road. Deputies responded to the scene around 2:20 p.m. alongside Raymond and Valparaiso rural fire departments.

The building was declared a total loss and also caused damage to a pickup truck, a travel trailer, various car parts, and miscellaneous tools. The total loss is estimated at $170,000.

While still in progress, a State Fire Marshal investigation suspects a faulty electrical connection to the trailer may have caused the fire. Authorities were notified of the fire by a passerby.

Nobody was home at at the time that the fire started.
