LFR Crews Respond To Forklift Fire At Recycling Faciity

By Tom Stanton Mar 26, 2024 | 3:51 PM

Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews were called to a recycling center north of 48th and Superior just after 2:00 Tuesday afternoon. LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says a forklift caught fire inside the First Star Fiber facility.

She says crews were able to contain the fire to the forklift and no injuries were reported.  The total damage is not yet known.  This isn’t the first time Lincoln firefighters have been to that facility.

Last month a carboard compactor was destroyed by fire.  Lierman says that fire started in the electrical panel of the compactor and was spread by hydraulic oils into the machine, which was valued at more than $500,000.
