The Lancaster County Fugitive Task Force tried to stop a wanted man Wednesday morning while walking near 23rd and A Street. Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says they knew 37-year-old Leondris Wallace had felony burglary warrants.
“They attempted to contact him and a foot pursuit occurred. Mr. Wallace was tackled and taken into custody.” Houchin says during a search of Wallace they found 3.3 grams of meth and marijuana, eight amphetamine pills and 14 other stimulant pills were found.
“In the backpack he had dropped during the foot pursuit was a stolen Springfield .45 caliber handgun that was loaded,” Houchin says. Wallace was taken to the Lancaster County Jail and booked on his warrants.
He was also facing charges for possession of a firearm by felon, possession of a stolen firearm, three counts of possession of a controlled substance and obstructing a peace officer.
