Lincoln Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s assistance in two separate cases, one regarding a pizza shop burglar, and the other regarding a hit and run car accident.
The first case occurred on January 14th, afterhours at the Domino’s Pizza located at 48th and Leighton Avenue.
Forensics Video Technician for the Lincoln Police Department Becky Keller says the suspect knew knew the code to the key box on the front door. He helped himself into the building and used some kind of tool to cut the bolts securing the safe to the ground.
Once the safe was loose, Keller says the suspect pushed it through the back door and speculates the suspect likely loaded the safe into a waiting vehicle in the alley nearby. He then goes back into the store, helps himself to soft drink, put the key back into the lock box, and took off.
Video and photos from the incident can be viewed below.
The next case occurred on February 27th, near the intersection of 13th and South Street.
A vehicle was stopped near the intersection at the red light. When the light turned green the vehicle began slowly moving but stopped for pedestrians they noticed were crossing the street.
While waiting, they were struck from behind by a unique looking 2001-2006 white Lexus ES sedan with a dark colored front right fender.
A witness described the driver as a young black female with braids who appeared to be distracted by her phone.
A photo of the vehicle in question can be viewed below.
