A Lincoln woman is accused of threatening LPD officers and crashing into a cruiser late Saturday night near 35th and Sheridan Blvd. Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says it all began around 11:00 p.m. when witnesses heard a woman screaming.

“Officers contacted 39-year-old Candie Klein  standing outside her vehicle and making verbal threats toward the officers,” Thomas says.  “Klein then got into her car and began to put it in drive as officers told her to exit the vehicle.”

Thomas says one officer deployed her taser as the other officers attempted to remove Klein from the vehicle.  “That’s when the suspect quickly accelerated and rammed into one of the marked
cruisers.”

No officers were hurt.  Klein was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody. After being medically cleared at the hospital, Klein was taken to the
Lancaster County Jail and booked for attempted assault on an officer and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

She was also cited for resisting arrest, operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest and disturbing the peace.
