The end of the rainbow will lead to Lincoln’s Haymarket this St. Patrick’s Day weekend, where leprechauns with pots of gold will be shutting down the block outside of McKinney’s Irish Pub.

The staple downtown pub will celebrate the holidays with their 10th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Street Festival. The event is known for blocking off “P” Street between 7th and 8th Streets, adjacent to McKinney’s, with many gathering under a large tent.

The bar, located at 151 N 8th Street, will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. this Saturday and Sunday, March 16th-17th. The street tent will open at 2 p.m. each day.

St. Patty’s favorites will return for the decade celebration, including two Lucky Charms Eating Contests at 4 p.m. both days and the Kilt/Best “Irish” Getup Contest at 3 p.m. on Saturday, both offering championship prizes.

Manager of McKinney’s, Delaney Walsh, told KLIN News that she and her staff are excited for the 10th celebration.

“We’ll have our event menu food available, but then we also have a separate menu of suggested pairings like Harp with our fish and chips, or Smithwick’s with the bangers and mash,” said Walsh. “Plus classic St. Patty’s drinks like Irish car bombs, Irish trash cans, and $3 jello shots.”

There will be live Irish music both days from Lincoln-based groups. ‘Out of the House’ will perform on Saturday from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m., followed by a DJ, and Paddywhack will play on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Best of all, “there’s no cover charge either day,” said Walsh.
