Lincoln Police have arrested the second and primary suspect related to a north Lincoln bar stabbing.
Officers were called to Lil’ Risky Sports bar near 33rd and Superior around 1:30 a.m. on March 9th. Officers arrived to a 36-year-old man with life threatening injuries, later determined to be stab wounds.
LPD Sergeant Chris Vollmer said witnesses reported seeing the victim stabbed multiple times. Police later arrested 38-year-old Joel Martinez in connection with the stabbing, charged with 1st degree aiding and abetting first degree assault.
According to KLIN media partner 1011 Now, a warrant was issued for the arrest of 26-year-old Eleazar Morales on Monday, March 11th. He was taken into custody and lodged in Lancaster County Jail on Thursday.
Morales faces one count of first-degree assault and one count of use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
The victim was rushed to a Lincoln hospital where staff found stab wounds to his neck and upper torso. His carotid artery had been severed, and he required 20 units of blood during surgery.
Lincoln Police have not provided an update on the man’s condition, but he is expected to survive.
Surveillance footage reviewed by officers revealed the altercation began with a verbal argument between a group of four people with the victim. The man who started the argument, later identified as Morales, then brandished a knife.
The group began to leave, where an exterior camera showed Morales wait next to the door and lunge at the victim, stabbing him in the neck. The victim was then stabbed again in the chest while he grasped his bleeding neck, court documents indicate.
Martinez can be seen watching the attack before getting into a vehicle with Morales and fleeing.
Martinez posted bond on Tuesday. Morales was scheduled to be arraigned on his charges Friday afternoon.
