Trev Alberts is heading south.

The Nebraska athletic director informed staff via email that he was resigning his position for the same role at Texas A&M.

“I am very sorry for the time and that I was not able to communicate these changes to you in person,” Alberts said. “Tough decisions will need to be made, unity of vision and high execution will be necessary, but I am confident that leadership in Nebraska will rise to the occasion.”

In his statement with Texas A&M, Alberts also spoke on “leadership” and “vision”.

“Leadership matters now more than ever before,” Alberts said. “My interest in Texas A&M is not only due to its prestigious reputation but also because of President (Mark) Welsh’s compelling vision in which, I believe, Athletics can play a small but important role in helping Texas A&M achieve unprecedented success.”

Alberts had been at Nebraska since 2021. According to his amended contract in 2023, NU is owed more than $4 million in damages for his departure prior to Dec. 31, 2024.
