There remains a slight chance of some severe weather in Lincoln with a rain system moving into the area Wednesday evening, as timing has changed slightly from yesterday’s forecast.
“Things were pushed back about an hour or so. We were originally saying between 6:00-10:00 p.m. Now I think the peak is going to be closer to between 7:00-11:00 p.m.,” National Weather Service Meteorologist Taylor Nicolaisen tells KLIN News
He suspects the area of southeast Nebraska could expect about 0.50 of rain. Nicolaisen said this time of year, precipitation can be much more spotty, but says chance of rainfall is about 80-90%.
“Chance of those storms becoming severe aren’t as high, maybe a 5% chance,” he added. The highest suspected storm-zone is just south of Lincoln, but closer to the Nebraska-Kansas boarder there is roughly a 20-25% chance of severe storms — with wind gusts up to 60 mph and up to 2-inch size hail possible.
