Nebraska men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg has been recognized for the season his team put together this year.

Fred Hoiberg was named Big Ten Co-Coach of the Year Tuesday. Hoiberg joins Purdue’s Matt Painter in sharing the honor.

Hoiberg is the first Husker coach to win Big Ten Coach of the Year since Tim Miles in 2014.

NU was picked in the preseason to finish 12th in the league. Over the 20 game Big Ten slate, the Huskers finished third with a 12-8 record.

The 22 wins by Nebraska this season are tied for second most in program history.

The Huskers open their conference tournament Friday night in the quarterfinals.
