Five German Shepherds That Attacked Woman Euthanized

By Tom Stanton Mar 12, 2024 | 11:41 AM

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department says five German shepherds that savagely attacked a woman who was jogging late last month have been euthanized.  Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says the dogs also attacked another person in the area of 33rd and Pleasant Hill Road last December.

“These dogs were causing a lot of issues.  They would aggressively go after a lot of people in the neighborhood,” Houchin says.  “We just could not allow these dogs to go to someone else’s neighborhood.”

Houchin says the woman suffered bites to her face, neck and arms.  “She’s physically getting better.  Emotionally, it hurt her, she’s having a difficult time.  We feel very bad for her.”   Houchin says the Capital Humane Society couldn’t even get into their kennels because they were so aggressive.

The 20-year-old owner was cited for five counts of dogs at large.
