Lincoln Police are investigating after a man was stabbed outside Lil’ Risky Sports bar near 33rd and Superior around 1:30 Sunday morning. “Upon arrival officers located a 36-year-old Lincoln man with life-threatening injuries,” says LPD Sergeant Chris Vollmer.
“Witnesses reported seeing the victim stabbed several times following an altercation.” Vollmer says at last check the man remained in critical condition. Police have arrested 38-year-old Joel Martinez in connection with the stabbing. He is charged with 1st degree aiding and abetting first degree assault.
According to 1011 Now the victim was stabbed in the chest and neck. An arrest affidavit reveals surveillance footage shows four people had been sitting around a table when one of them began a verbal argument with the victim.
1011 Now reports the man who started the argument then pulled out a knife. The altercation led to one of the patrons stepping in between the victim and the armed man who was with Martinez, police say. The group then walked towards the door.
An outside camera showed the armed man waiting next to the door before lunging at the victim and stabbing him one time in the neck and the chest. The victim lost a lot of blood and underwent surgery.
The search continues for the suspect who stabbed the victim. LPD is asking anyone with information, including video of the incident, to contact the non-emergency number at 402 441-6000. If you want to remain anonymous you can call Crime Stoppers at 402 475-3600.
