A man is facing a long list of charges after crashing a stolen vehicle while fleeing from police Thursday night.  LPD Captain Todd Kocian says an officer saw a black 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix pull into a convenience store parking lot at 28th and ‘O’ Street around 10:30 p.m.

He says the officer recognized the passenger as 35- year-old Jared Mutchie and knew he had a felony arrest warrant for drugs.  “Mutchie quickly changed seats with the driver and exited the parking lot.”

Kocian says the officer tried to stop the vehicle, but it fled eastbound and struck a retaining wall near 44th and ‘O’ Street.  “Mutchie was quickly apprehended after fleeing the vehicle on foot.” Officers recovered a .22 caliber handgun, 1.5 grams of cocaine and 4.5 grams of methamphetamine.

Police also discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen on February 24 from the area of 48th and Superior Street. Mutchie was arrested for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, tampering with physical evidence, two counts of possession of a controlled Substance, operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, theft by receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.
