Lincoln Fire and Rescue (LFR) has once again been designated as an Accredited Agency for being “community-oriented, data-driven, and outcome-focused” by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI).
Announced today by Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and LFR Chief Dave Engler, the CFAI has recognized LFR’s dedication to continuous quality improvement, industry best practices, and accountability.
“Our commitment to accreditation is a testament to our unwavering dedication to continuous improvement, accountability, and the highest standards of service delivery. It reflects the countless hours of hard work, training, and collaboration invested by every member of our department,” Chief Engler said. “We’ve continued to strengthen our partnerships with local stakeholders, neighboring agencies, and community organizations for a coordinated and effective response to ensure we are exceeding their expectations.”
Lincoln Fire and Rescue is among 324 other fire agencies worldwide in achieving this status from the CFAI. LFR first achieved this status in 1997 as one of the few agencies to embark on this program, which makes LFR not only the first and only public fire agency in Nebraska to achieve this status but one of the longest continuously accredited fire agencies worldwide.
The CFAI works with a team of peers from other agencies to evaluate the accuracy and transparency of the agency under evaluation. Based upon the recommendation of the peer assessors, the fire agency will then go before the CFAI commission for final review. This process repeats every fifth year as long as the agency meets minimum program requirements during the term of the accreditation.
