LPD Gearing Up For St. Patrick’s Day

By Tom Stanton Mar 4, 2024 | 6:00 AM

The Lincoln Police Department will be taking part in a special enforcement campaign on St. Patrick’s Day.  The goal of the project is to reduce the number of vehicle crashes and DUI violations and promoting responsible sales and service of alcoholic beverages throughout the city.

“LPD will assign additional officers to each of Lincoln’s four geographic police teams,” says Captain Todd Kocian.  The officers will conduct compliance checks at businesses that serve alcohol.  “After that they will conduct high-visibility traffic enforcement with emphasis placed on traffic and DUI violations.”

LPD urges residents who plan to drink to make arrangements for a designated driver. Those who see impaired drivers are asked to call police. The Nebraska Department of Transportation-Highway Safety Office will provide funding for this enforcement project.
