Two Lincoln police officers suffered minor injuries while chasing a man accused of threatening his ex-girlfriend with a gun early Friday morning. Captain Todd Kocian the officers were called to a home near 70th and Colby around 4:30 a.m. by a woman who said 29-year-old Daejon Collins was vandalizing her property and threatening to shoot her.
He says the victim reported Collins had pointed his handgun at the officers before driving away. “The officers observed Collins fleeing at high speed before crashing his vehicle and fleeing on foot,” Kocian says.
Officers were able to take Collins into custody a short time later. During the pursuit the two officers and Collins sustained minor injuries. A handgun matching the description given by the victim was found in the car along with cocaine.
Collins was treated at a hospital and booked on a number of offenses, including domestic assault, terroristic threats and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
