Lincoln Woman Critically Injured In Crash With Semi On Highway 6

By Tom Stanton Feb 26, 2024 | 8:59 PM

A 46-year-old Lincoln woman was critically hurt after a chain reaction crash on Highway 6 near 98th Street around 4:20 Monday afternoon.   Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says the woman’s car was stopped behind another eastbound vehicle at a red light.

“An eastbound semi driven by an Omaha man approached the intersection, failed to stop and crashed into the Corolla, which caused a domino effect.”  Houchin says the semi was hauling crushed vehicles.

There was a total of five vehicles involved in the crash, which closed east and westbound lanes for several hours. The woman was airlifted to a Lincoln hospital.  Houchin says she suffered life threatening injuries.

The semi driver was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.  “It was one of the most horrific crashes I’ve seen in some time.” No other serious injuries were reported.  The crash remains under investigation and no citations have been issued.
