Sparks flew during a wild traffic stop that began at 84th and Highway 6 Wednesday afternoon.  Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says a plain clothes deputy spotted a 2010 Mustang driving all over the road and it did not have a front passenger side tire.”

Deputies in a marked cruiser arrived to conduct a traffic stop.  “The Mustang was traveling eastbound on Highway 6, turned to the south and stopped on 112th and got out,” Houchin says.  Deputies smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from 22-year-old Hunter Tucker of Omaha.

As deputies went to  place handcuffs on Ticker Houchin says he ran into a nearby field and a foot chase ensued.  Tucker was able to make it back to his car and got inside.  “A struggle continued, more deputies arrived, and the driver was finally taken out of the vehicle, placed on the ground and arrested.”

Houchin says Tucker was taken to the Adult Detention Facility where he was found to have a .22 blood alcohol content. Tucker was then booked into jail for DWI, possessing an open container, resisting arrest, criminal attempt, willful reckless driving and stopped or parked on a roadway.

Houchin says several deputies sustained scrapes and bruises during the arrest.
