The Nebraska State Patrol has released the names of the two men who were shot to death Tuesday morning in the northeast Nebraska community of Bloomfield. NSP Captain Dan Hicks says 77-year-old Curtis Strom and 49-year-old William Reffett were found dead inside a bowling alley around 9:30 a.m.
Authorities arrested 25-year-old Alias Reed and his girlfriend, 27-year-old Kaylyne Sweazy, in connection with the shooting deaths. “The preliminary investigation indicates Reed took a shotgun to the bowling alley and instigated an argument with Reffett,” Hicks says.
During that confrontation, Hicks says Reed shot Reffett and then turned the gun on Strom, who had not been involved in the dispute. Reed then fled the scene and was found a short time later and taken into custody.
“During the investigation, troopers found the shotgun believed to be used in the murders in a ditch along a county road several miles west of Bloomfield,” Hicks says. Investigators believe that Reed and Sweazy traveled together to dispose of the gun. Investigators also found cash that had been stolen from the bowling alley.
Reed was arrested for two counts of first-degree murder and robbery. Sweazy has been arrested for tampering with evidence. Reed was booked into the Knox County Jail and Sweazy in the Antelope County Jail.
