On Sunday, February 11th, millions will gather and tune-in to watch the Kansas City Chief’s and San Francisco 49ers face off for the Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas. Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach (MTKO), on the other hand, will be making sure everybody in Lincoln has soup in their bowls.
For over 30 years, the Souper Bowl of Caring campaign has promoted awareness of food insecurity and raised resources to end hunger.
Fans are encouraged to create a game plan. Your team can collect food, cash, and other needed items to be delivered to Matt Talbot. Or do the same by creating a contest or Facebook fundraiser. Getting youth groups involved is highly encouraged.
“It really is a great way to say, ‘Hey, I am taking part in this one day, taking action, and doing something about it.’ Plus it’s nationwide, with events happening everywhere surrounding food insecurity and raising awareness about hunger,” said Alynn Sampson, Executive Director for Matt Talbot, during an appearance on the Dan Parsons Show.
Items most needed include Soup, Cereal, Oatmeal, Boxed potatoes, Pasta & pasta sauce, Granola bars, Canned beef or chicken, Deodorant, Tampons, and Wet Wipes.
MTKO asks participants to notify them them of their support so they can track donations, the participation form and more information can be found at mtko.org.
