Governor Pillen Heading To Texas For Border Security Update

By Tom Stanton Feb 2, 2024 | 8:41 AM

Governor Jim Pillen will be heading back to Texas on Sunday to get a security update on the southern border.  He will be joined by Major General Craig Strong, Adjutant General of the Nebraska National Guard.

They will join Texas Governor Greg Abbott and more than a dozen other governors for a joint news conference at 2:30 p.m. in Eagle Pass, TX.  “The mission to secure the border is critical to the security of Nebraskans as well as all Americans,” Pillen says. “We need to continue our support of Operation Lone Star and will assess additional resources Nebraska can offer to secure the border, and stop the flow of illegal drugs, and end the humanitarian crisis.”

Last year, Pillen sent drone operators from the State Patrol to assist with surveillance operations. During the summer, more than 60 members of the Nebraska National Guard conducted operations alongside Texas authorities to turn back and detain those illegally crossing the border.
