Afternoon Fire Damages Southwest Lincoln Home

By Tom Stanton Feb 1, 2024 | 3:31 PM

Lincoln Firefighters were called to a home near SW 16th and W. Sewell just after 2:00 Thursday afternoon after someone reported smoke coming from the eaves. Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says crews were able to get inside and quickly put it out.

She says a malfunctioning outlet in the kitchen sparked the fire.  The fire was mainly contained to the kitchen.  Lierman says crews had to cut a hole in the roof to make sure the fire didn’t extend into the attic.

No one was home at the time.  The extent of the damage is not yet known.
