By Matt McMaster Jan 31, 2024 | 9:19 PM

Nebraska Women’s basketball put together a steady performance against the Purdue Boilermakers Wednesday night, walking away with a 68-54 win at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

NU snapped a two-game losing streak in their win, where they shot 42% from the field and 32% from three. The team moves to 14-7 on the season and 6-4 in the Big Ten.

The two major keys in the Big Red’s win were rebounding and defense.

Nebraska stifled the Boilermakers on the defensive end, forcing  Purdue to shoot 36% from the field and 19% from three and allowing the Boilermakers to the charity stripe just eight times.

Nebraska also dominated the boards. NU won the overall rebounding battle 44-32, grabbing 11 offensive boards for 11 second-chance points. Nebraska led Purdue by a score of 32-29 after the first half, but their rebounding in quarters three and four sparked the team to a double-digit victory. NU outrebounded Purdue 25-12, and their nine offensive rebounds sparked two Big Red Runs. Natalie Potts led the way for NU with five offensive boards.

Darian White and Alexis Markowski led the Big Red with 14 points each. Jaz Shelley also had a classic 10-9-4 performance. Kendall Moriarty was a great spark off the Bench for the Huskers, notching 11 points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field.

Nebraska’s next game is on Saturday, Feb. 3 against Rutgers.
