The halfpipe heroes of Lincoln will have a chance to offer input on the city’s newest skatepark development.

The Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled an open house regarding the South Haymarket Skatepark and invites residents from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight, January 30, at The Bay, 2005 “Y” St to speak with city developers about the project.

“We really want to hear from our community members that are going to be using it. What types of features that they’re looking for, the idea is this skate park will be open for all wheels and all skill levels, and so we’d really like to see that representation come out and hear from the community,” Karen Nalow, Parks and Recreation Capital Projects Administrator, told KLIN News.

An online survey will be available the tomorrow, from January 31 through February 14 at lincoln.ne.gov/HaymarketSkatepark.

For those who cannot make it in person, you can still have an opportunity to share your thoughts with us,” explained Nalow. “We would like to get as many people either at the open house or to fill out that survey as possible.”

Parks and Recreation staff and representatives from park designer Olsson Studio and skatepark designer Spohn Ranch will be available to answer questions and gather input regarding the design of Lincoln’s new skatepark in South Haymarket Park, to be located on 7th and “N” streets.

Paper copies of the survey will be available at the following locations:

  • Lincoln Parks and Recreation administrative offices, Suite 300, 3131 “O” St.
  • The Bay, 2005 “Y” St.
  • Precision Skateboards, 1622 “O” St.
