A former Husker football player has avoided jail time after being caught on camera last year breaking into a liquor and vape shop near 27th and O Street last August.  21 year old Arik Gilbert pleaded no contest Tuesday to first-degree criminal trespassing and criminal mischief and was fined $400.

Gilbert, who was initially charged with burglary, was also ordered to pay $450 in restitution to the store.  LPD says $1,600 worth of items were taken.  Gilbert was a tight end and the crime happened a few days before the start of the football season.
