The Leading Economic Indicator-Nebraska rose by 1.00% in December 2023. The increase in the leading indicator, which is designed to predict economic growth six months into the future, suggests that the Nebraska economy will grow during the first half of 2024.
That is the crux of the finding from the UNL Bureau of Business Research. 5 of the 6 components, which make up the index, were stronger in December with only a slight decline in single family home building permits.
A slight decline in the value of the U.S. dollar improved the outlook for Nebraska businesses that are involved in international markets.
