For the fourth time this week LFR crews battled a house fire in frigid temperatures. Just before 8:00 Friday morning crews were called to 38th and ‘M’ Street and found fire in the basement.
LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says a child playing with a lighter fire was the cause. Five children were safely evacuated and damage is estimated at $75,000.
Firefighters were able to rescue one cat.
