Three people have been arrested for using fraudulent credit cards to purchase gift cards and high end clothing. Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says they stopped their car Thursday morning for speeding on I-80 near the 48th Street exit.
“It was determined very quickly that the two passenger were not being truthful about their identities,” Houchin says. “They were asked to get out and when they did deputies saw a large amount of cash and gift cards in a purse.”
Houchin says they also found bags of high priced clothing. The cash, clothing and gift cards totaled nearly $21-thousand. He says the trio traveled across the country and used bogus credit cards to purchase the other items.
Houchin says the purchases were made in Denver and the trio has an extensive history of credit card fraud. The driver was from Texas and the two passengers from California.
