Nebraska Dominates Michigan in Front of Home Crowd

Nebraska women’s basketball bounced back in a big way from their disappointing 62-58 loss to Minnesota Wednesday night. In front of Pinnacle Aren, red out the Huskers smothered the Michigan Wolverines en route to a 62-43 win.

The Big Red move to 13-5 on the year and 5-2 in the Big Ten.

NU imposed their will on the defensive end for 40 minutes against the Wolverines. Michigan shot a measly 32% from the floor and 26% from three while getting dominated on the boards 46 to 28 in favor of Nebraska. NU got massive efforts from Freshman Natalie Potts, who hauled 10 boards, and the Big Ten rebound leader, Alexis Markowski, who pulled in seven.

On the night, Potts finished with 13 points and ten rebounds, marking her third Double-Double of the year. The Big Red also got massive contributions off the bench from Kendall Moriarity. The Junior had a season-high 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor. The Huskers also had great efforts from Jaz Shelley, who contributed eight points, seven rebounds, and six assists, and Darian White, who notched 13 points and five rebounds in the team’s win.

Nebraska will now go on the Road to State College, Pennsylvania, to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions on Sunday, Jan. 21
