A fire at a Waverly construction business Tuesday afternoon caused more than $1 million in damage. Lancaster County Sheriff’s Captain John Vik says an employee of GTG Group reported the fire just after 4:00.
“It was a commercial agricultural outbuilding that was fully engulfed in flames.” He says firefighters from Waverly and several other communities tried to put the fire out, but were unable to. He says the destroyed building and the contents inside were estimated at $1.1 million.
Vik says no one was injured and the fire is believed to be accidental. The state fire marshal conduct an investigation. GTG is a general construction company.
