Lincoln City officials say crews will remain focused on plowing emergency snow routes and arterial streets. Residential plowing operations will begin at 8 a.m. Friday to minimize frozen snowpack by plowing off accumulations in response to the bitter cold temperatures.
Snowfall is expected to begin tapering off around 11:00 Friday morning but blowing snow will persist through the weekend. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 9 p.m. Friday.
Heavy snow is expected, with additional snow accumulations between two and four inches and winds gusting as high as 40 mph are possible. LTU officials say streets are snow covered and will become snow packed with traffic.
If you have to be out, dress appropriately and allow for extra travel time and stopping distance. StarTran bus service is expected to run as normal with the possibility of 5-10 minute delays due to snow.
In addition to the snow and blowing snow, temperatures are in the single digits and wind chills are well below zero.
